Date: April 2nd 2008
I hope that some of you, at least, missed seeing these monthly updates over the past few months! On Christmas Day, I was walking with my son along the Sacramento River, slipped in some mud, fell and cracked my pelvis in five places. Surgery to repair the break went well, but other complications resulted in two months of hospitalization and now continuing recuperation at home. I still have not regained full use of my left leg, but have regained enough energy to return to some of my ordinary activities. It's good to be getting back to the interfaith world of the Bay Area, and April offers a number of opportunities to develop stronger relationships with one another.
SAVE THE DATE: The third annual interfaith gathering sponsored by South Bay Interfaith will take place in the Spring this year. "Circle of Palms; Circle of Friends" will be Wednesday, May 21, 2008 6:30- 7:30 pm at the Circle of Palms in downtown San Jose. This year’s program will again include music from several religious communities, time for meeting and talking with others, and delicious food to share. Details will be posted as available on the South Bay Interfaith website: www.southbayinterfaith.org
Send your events! Let the community know about events that are open to the public and are either interfaith or offer an opportunity for others to learn about your faith community. Send information to calendar@interfaithspace.org.
[Interreligious Calendar events are taken from the Silicon Valley Conference for Community and Justice Interfaith Calendar and the Multifaith Action Society Multifath Calendar 2007. See also the Online Interfaith Calendar] NOTE: Jewish Holidays begin at sundown the day before. Buddhist holidays are observed on many different days, according to local tradition.
"Interfaith Opportunities" focuses on specifically interfaith events;, "Take Action" offers opportunities to take action on issues of concern with people from other religious traditions, and "Meet Your Neighbors" includes events that are sponsored by a specific religious group but which are open to the wider community. Items for the calendar can be sent to calendar@interfaithspace.org
